I want to ask that girl from Maui Fever, as she sits on the beach with her arms wrapped around her legs and her chin resting on her knees and her sun-streaked hair blows in the wind while she stares longingly through tears out into the ocean, if her thoughts are really as deep and profound as her pose suggests...because as MTV's camera slowly pulls back and the soundtrack from some emo band starts playing leaving this girl looking like the loneliest most troubled shakespearean character i hope art isn't lost.

Chyea, that was deep and I feel you on all levels. But comparing a character on Maui Fever to a character from a Shakespeare play is a longshot. To even refer to that MTV filth as art is a misuse of the word "art". In the MTV version of Romeo and Juliet, Juliet kills herself when her heart is broken because Romeo for drunk and made out with another girl.

Ohh ok. Then yea, I would say that your right about the direction that art is going. But I think that it's just the nature of the beast, in modern times at least. Popular culture is always shitty while the rest of us wish that true talent could be appreciated on a more widespread level, but it rarely is. Luckily for us though, art will never really be gone. I mean, fuck a TV, art is a great joke, art is slipping a jab and landing a right hand, this blog is art....Yea, maybe art is a pussy and runs and hides at the first sign of the Backstreet Boys, but luckily for us it never dies.
